URBANA- Ted Wyckoff, son of Margie and Russell L. Wyckoff of Vinton, Iowa, was born Dec. 18, 1949, and passed away Sept. 15, 2011, at the age of 61.
He attended school in Urbana and Vinton and graduated from Urbana in 1968. On Jan. 15, 1969, he married Connie Ferguson in Urbana. To this union was born one son, John Michael. The couple later divorced. On March 23, 1978, he married Edith Nye of Bogotá Columbia. They spent several years farming there until they came back to Iowa.
Ted served in the Army during the Vietnam era from 1969 to 1971 as a military policeman with the 8th MP Company of the 8th Infantry Division in Germany. After his discharge he attended Kirkwood Community College, taking courses in horticulture. He worked for Vinton Parks and Recreation from 1978 to 1980.
He is survived by his wife, Edith; his son, John and wife Mary, and their children, Brok, Kealee, Bryce, Evan and Faith Hagenow; his mother, Margie; his brothers and their wives and children, John and Dixie, Richard and Joyce, and James and Cathy; his aunts, Geraldine Hickle of Clarksville, Iowa, Marlys Malcom of Marshalltown and Carol Bradley of Arizona; his uncle, Richard and wife Carol of Marshalltown; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Russell Wyckoff; and grandson, Forest Wyckoff.
A memorial fund has been established.
Public graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Kisling Cemetery near Urbana, with military rites conducted by Walter J. Meyocks American Legion Post 264 of Urbana and Iowa Military Funeral Honors.
The family invites those in attendance to join them for fellowship and refreshments at the Urbana Methodist Church following the graveside service.
