VINTON: Helen M. Fisher, 85 of Vinton died Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Vinton Lutheran Home following an extended illness. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, September 26, 2011 at the Presbyterian Church in Vinton with Pastor Fred Darbonne officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Vinton. Visitation will be from 2 – 4 PM on Sunday at Phillips Family Center, 605 Second Avenue in Vinton. Online condolences may be sent to the family at: www.phillipsfuneralhomes.com.

Helen was born April 26, 1926 to Earl and Merle Baker Powers at Vinton. She graduated from Lincoln High School in Vinton. Helen was united in marriage to Wilbur Fisher on February 14, 1947 in Vinton. Wilbur preceded her in death on December 15, 2006.
Helen was a member of the Vinton American Legion Auxiliary Unit # 57 and enjoyed bowling, dancing, woodworking and fishing. Her greatest pleasure was the many trips to their cabin at Clam Lake in Wisconsin.
Helen is survived by her four children, Steven (Patricia) Fisher of Garrison, Elaine (Duane) Pohlmann of Cedar Rapids, Mary Fisher of Vinton and Sandra (David) Rublack also of Vinton; her grandchildren, Stacy Harris, Shawn (Mandy) Fisher all of Garrison, Matthew Pohlmann of Hiawatha, Aleah Pohlmann of Cedar Rapids and Christine Rublack of Vinton; her great grandchildren, Courtney, Rachel and Michael Harris and Joren Fisher; her sisters, Shirley Henson of Swartz Creek, Michigan and Mary (Ron) Walker of Nubinaway, Michigan.
In addition to her parents and husband, Wilibur, she was preceded in death by her three brothers and several nieces and nephews.
