VINTON – Ruth R. “Ruthie” Witt, 81, of Vinton, died Thursday, March 11, 2010, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton.
 
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 15, 2010, at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Garrison with Pastor Mark Leckband officiating.  Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 14, at Van Steenhuyse-Russell Funeral Home in Vinton and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church on Monday.  Interment will be in Keystone Cemetery, Keystone.
 
Ruthie was born December 11, 1928, in Poweshiek County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Hazel Sparrowgrove Kithcart. She was raised on the family farm near Chelsea and attended Chelsea schools.
 
On August 4, 1946, Ruthie was united in marriage with Marvin Witt in Keystone, Iowa. They farmed in the Garrison area until moving to Vinton in 1973.
 
She was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Garrison. She played in a card club and was a long-time square dancer.
 
Ruthie is survived by her husband, Marvin Witt of Vinton; one son, Larold (Diana Moreno-Witt) Witt of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Arlys (Stephen) Kness of West Des Moines; 7 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; one sister, Juanita Witt; and one sister-in-law, Lylas Sindt.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Donald and Erle Kithcart.
 
A memorial fund has been established.
