Art was born March 1, 1922 on the family farm two miles south of Vinton to Glen and Hazel Chapin Corbett. His parents later divorced and his mother married Clifford Aldeman in 1945. Art attended school in Vinton and was a 1939 graduate of Lincoln High School.

He served his nation during World War II in the United States Army. While in the service he spent most of his war time in upper France and Germany as a Tech. Sgt. with the 275th - 70th Infantry Division.

Art was united in marriage to Katherine “Kay” Claybaugh on January 3, 1948. Art spent most of his life on the family farm which was established in 1852, just six years after Iowa became a state. The farm remains in the same family some 160 years later. Art and Kay spent over 15 years wintering in Venice, Florida. He loved spending time with his family especially at holiday gatherings and other special occasions. He enjoyed each of his grandchildren and welcoming each new great grandchild. He and Kay enjoyed taking quiet drives across Iowa and many trips across the United States in their mobile home and following family members participating in RAGBRAI which he referred to as “Rag-Ride”.

He enjoyed membership in the Farm Bureau, Geo. G. Luckey American Legion Post #57 and the Vinton Country Club where he enjoyed many years of golfing.
