CEDAR RAPIDS: Gladys Dulin Smee, 85, of Cedar Rapids and formerly of Scottsdale, AZ and Vinton, died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids following a brief illness.
A Memorial Service will be held at the First Christian Church in Vinton at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, February 29, 2011, with Pastor Connie Wacht officiating. Friends may register at the church one hour prior to service time. Interment will be held at Green Acres Mortuary & Cemetery in Scottsdale, AZ. Phillips Funeral Home in Vinton is in charge of arrangements.
Gladys was born August 24, 1926 to Indianapolis, IN to George and Mary (Teeters) Relf. Her family later moved to Vinton and in June of 1943 she married Glenn Dulin at St. Louis, MO. They later divorced and in May of 1984 she married Clement Smee at Scottsdale, AZ. Both Mr. Dulin and Mr. Smee preceded her in death.
While living in Vinton, she was a cook at Virginia Gay Hospital and served as Worthy Matron of the Vinton Chapter of the Eastern Star. After moving to Scottsdale she enjoyed membership in the V.F.W Auxiliary for 28 years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 60 years. She was employed as a cook at the V.F.W Post #3513. in Scottsdale and in the home of a Phoenix, AZ physician.
Gladys is survived by her sons, Mike(Marilee) Dulin of Cedar Rapids, Randy (Darlys) Dulin of Menomonie, WI, and Rick (Ann) Dulin of Cedar Rapids; her step-sons, Desmond (Judy) Smee and Patrick Smee, all of Gilbert, AZ; nine grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; her sisters-in-law, Marcia Relf of Vinton, and Martha Relf of Phoenix, AZ; and her nieces, Pam Bedwell of New River, AZ, and Cathy (Dan) Davis of Phoenix, AZ
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by her daugher, Cheryl Dulin; her brothers, Bill, Jack and Gene Relf; her sister, Vera Keck; her step-son: Roland Smee; and her step-daugthter, Veronica Smee.
