Obituaries : Joel Francis Meek

Joel Francis Meek, 72, of Buckingham was born to Howard and Eunice (Glendy) Meek in rural Tama County on July 13, 1939.

Joel and Janet Hagge were married at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tama on March 23, 1958. He was employed as a production machine operator for John Deere for 31 years before retiring.

Joel spent his free time enjoying the outdoors; hunting and fishing. He passed away at his residence on Saturday, May 19, 2012 of natural causes surrounded by his loving family.

Joel is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother and a son; Ronald Meek.

Those left to cherish Joel’s memory is his beloved wife of 54 years, Janet (Hagge) Meek of Buckingham, their children; Larry and J. Scott Meek, both of Buckingham and a daughter, Diana (Dennis) Bramow of Vinton. As well as a brother, Jerald (Hela) Meek of Tama; sister, Mary Zurkowski of Toledo; 9 grand children and 9 great- grand children.

No service is planned at this time, with burial at a later date at Oak Hill Cemetery, in Tama.
