VINTON: Bonnilynn Rhea "Bonnie" Poldberg, 80, died Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Virginia Gay Hospital in Vinton following an extended illness.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2012 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Vinton with Rev. Mark C. Urlaub officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 E. 6th St. in Vinton. Interment will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Jacksonville, IA. A Memorial Fund has been established.

Bonnie was born September 20, 1932 at the family home in Oakland, IA to Lawrence and Hildreth (Kindhart) Larsen and graduated from Elk Horn High School.

On January 22, 1949 she was united in marriage to Keith Poldberg in Hutchinson, KS.

The couple farmed in the Vinton area for many years, moving to town in 1992.

Bonnie was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she served her congregation as a Sunday School teacher, Vacation Bible School teacher and as a member of the choir. She was a former 4-H leader and gave lectures to spine re-hab patients at University Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City for over five years. Bonnie also taught aerobics classes in Van Horne and Garrison, teaching the skills she learned at University Hospitals to ease her back pain. She also enjoyed making many Christmas wreaths, arrangements and trees to be sold at the church bazaar.

She is survived by her husband, Keith of Vinton; her children, Ricky (Veronica) Poldberg of Aquascalientes, Mexico, Patrice (Gary) Shakespeare of Keystone and Terry (Sandra) Poldberg of Des Moines; her grandchildren, Jarod (Carrie) Smith of Blairstown, Laura Poldberg of Cedar Rapids, Kim (Steve) Geiken of Omaha, Ryan Poldberg of Cedar Rapids, Chrissy (Greg) DeGroot of Cedar Rapids; and her great grandchildren, Anessa, Luke, Cassie, Rylan, Taylam and Chloe; her brother Tom (Brenda) Larsen of Des Moines; her brother-in-law Cordell (Donna) Poldberg of Pocahontas; her brother-in-law Dr. Keith Ewing of Lubbock, TX and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her infant son Larry, her granddaughter Kristine and two sisters, Mona and Shelia.

We loved our \"long-lost cousin\", and we wish Keith and the rest of the family strength in dealing with this sadness.
