VINTON – Katherine “Kay” Corbett, 92, of Vinton died Friday, June 7, 2013 at Windsor Manor Assisted Living in Vinton.  Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Monday, June 10, 2013 at the First Christian Church in Vinton with Pastor Connie Wacht officiating.  Interment will be in Maplewood Cemetery, Vinton.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 PM on Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home Chapel, 212 East Sixth Street in Vinton and one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday.  A Memorial Fund has been established. 
     Kay was born August 24, 1920 in Paris, Illinois to Oliver and Florence Ogle Claybaugh.  She graduated from Paris High School in 1938.  Kay moved to Vinton in 1940. Kay was united in marriage to Arthur Chapin Corbett on January 3, 1948 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.  Kay was employed as a bookkeeper at Farmers Savings Bank, formerly Brenton Bank in Vinton.  
    Kay and Art farmed south of Vinton on Art’s family farm that was established in 1852.  She was a devoted farm wife and mother.  Kay and Art enjoyed square dancing and spent over 15 years wintering in Venice, Florida.  Art preceded Kay in death on February 11, 2012.  Kay was a member of Modern Entertainers and First Christian Church in Vinton.  She loved spending time with her family, going places with her daughters and having quiet visits with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
     Kay is survived by her three daughters, Elaine (Terry) Harrington of Watkins, Gwynne (John) Whitson and Barbara (Jim) Salger all of Vinton; her six grandchildren, Jason (Tosha) Whitson of West Des Moines, Lisa (Brian) Henning of Denver, Colorado; Nichole (Mike) Rinholen of Newhall, Matthew (Amy) Salger of Vinton; Sean (Alicia) Salger of Olin and Michelle (Cole) Knudsen of Watkins; her eleven great grandchildren, Bailey, Ashton and Abigail Whitson; Jack and Kaden Henning, Noah and Ava Rinholen, Gavin and Reagan Salger; Danica Salger and Cale Knudsen, and her sister, Betty Wright of Vinton, and special cousins of Art’s, Bob (Ginny) Chapin of Venice, Florida
     In addition to her parents and husband Art, Kay was preceded in death by her brothers, Forest and Dick Claybaugh.
