Margie Elizabeth “Ma” Wyckoff, 87, died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at Virginia Gay Nursing and Rehab in Vinton following a short illness. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 17, at Phillips Funeral Home, 212 E. Sixth St., Vinton. Interment will be held at Kisling Cemetery near Urbana. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday.

A memorial fund has been established.

Margie was born April 3, 1926, to Art and Bessie Ploeger in Schaller, Iowa. On Sept. 1, 1946, Margie was united in marriage to Russell Wyckoff.

Margie retired from her career of teaching in 1986. During her lifetime career, she taught in various schools, including Walker, Troy Mills, Urbana and lastly retiring from Vinton.

Margie was a member of the Urbana Methodist Church where she was a longtime Sunday school teacher as well. Over the years she belonged to the Bay View Club, Cemetery Society and multiple organizations.

She is survived by her sons, John (Dixie) Wyckoff of Mission, Texas, Richard (Joyce) Wyckoff of Urbana and James (Cathy) Wyckoff of Urbana; daughter-in-law, Edith Wyckoff of Fairfield; seven grandsons; five granddaughters; 21 great-grandchildren; brother, Richard (Carol) Ploeger of Marshalltown; and two sisters, Carol (Marion) Bradley of Arizona and Marlyce Malcolm of Marshalltown.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Russell; son, Ted Wyckoff; great-grandson, Forest Wyckoff; and brother-in-law, Clarence Malcolm.

JH June 16, 2013, 10:51 pm Margie was a neighbor and friend of my folks who lived next to her in-laws when my parents farmed near Urbaba. She also was my wife\'s teacher in Troy Mills. My dad played baseball with her husband \"Dutch\" and his brother. She will be missed.
MK June 15, 2013, 2:55 pm What a lady! Had the pleasure of working with Marge at the Urbana United Methodist Church on several occasions. Also had her as a Sunday School teacher at the same church. She loved children and was great with them. Have known her kids all my life and she raised a wonderful family. She will be truly missed by all that knew her!
RS June 14, 2013, 10:38 pm Mrs. Wyckoff was the librarian at Tilford Middle School when I went there in the late 1960s. She was so awesome, and always made time for students. She made the library a safe place.
