VINTON:
Paul W. Fix, 88, died June 20, 2013 at Virginia Gay Hospital following an extended illness.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 24, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Stephen K. Preus officiating. Friends may register at the church from 9:00 a.m., until service time. Private Committal Services will be held at Evergreen Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established to a charity of the donor's choice.
Paul was born September 9, 1924 on the family farm to Louis and Emma (Moeller) Fix and graduated from the Shellsburg High School in 1942. His parents preceded him in death.
During World War II, he served his nation in the U.S. Army as a Medic.
On February 8, 1950 he was united in marriage to Ruth Ann Foley at Bloomington , IN. She preceded him in death on January 8, 1977. He married Lorraine Stock Bettin on March 25, 1978 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Odeboldt.
Paul owned and operated the family farm and dairy farm. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as an Elder, a member of the Executive Board, and on the Building Committee. Paul was a member of the Vinton Co-op Steering Committee and the original Board of Directors. He was also a member and Delegate of the Mid-American Dairyman. In his leisure, he enjoyed using his skills as wood craftsman.
Paul is survived by his wife, Lorraine of Vinton; his sons, Edward (Jan) Fix of Beaver Creek, Ohio, and Jim (Rita) Fix of Vinton; his daughter, Susan Fix of Atlanta, GA; his step-children, Mark Bettin of Odeboldt, Susan (Lonny) Schmadeke of Kiron and Barbara Bettin of Lincoln, NE; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his brother, John (Millie) Fix of Colorado Springs, CO; and his sister, Lois Wunschel of Carroll.

Your dad brought our family to Vinton in 1968 and Vinton has been my home ever since. Your dad always treated us kindly. My condolences to you and your families.
