Belle Plaine—Tony Yerkes, 56, died Tuesday, June 25, 2013 from natural causes. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2013, at First Christian Church in Vinton with Rev. Connie Wacht officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Saturday. Private burial at a later date in the Brandon Cemetery.
Tony was born November 20, 1956 in Vinton to Richard and Judy Walker Kearns and was adopted at a young age by Gale Yerkes. He graduated from Washington High School in Vinton in 1975 and worked for many years at D C Taylor Company. In recent years, he worked at PMX Industries. Tony enjoyed playing pool, softball and fishing. He was a fan of the Jacksonville Jaguars and professional wrestling.
He is survived by his grandmother, Rhoda Walker, Vinton; his father, Gale, Yerkes, Vinton; his daughters, Brittany Yerkes, Vinton, and Ashley Ann Dvorak, North Liberty; his sons, Jarod Yerkes, Butte, MT, and Anthony Yerkes, Cedar Rapids; his brothers, Dick (Ny) Yerkes and Ronzo (Glenna) Kearns, both of Vinton; his sisters, Tina (Harold) Hatfield, Vinton and Andrea Jones, Blairstown.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Paul Walker; mother, Judy; and brother, Scott Yerkes.
A memorial fund has been established.
