Some Opinion Page Writers have accused 47 Republicans who signed a letter addressed to the government of Iran informing said government of our Constitutional procedures validating treaties entered into by the U. S. Government as treasonous. The Logan act passed and signed into law in 1799 has only been used once with no penalty levied, because the language is vague and most likely would be deemed unconstitutional; reasoning that all citizens and elected officials have not only the duty but obligation to petition government on issues that affect them including treaties with foreign governments.
Sec of State Kerry has stated before Congress that an agreement with Iran on nuclear matters would not be a legally binding agreement. Astounding on its face! So is it a treaty or an executive agreement not binding on future Presidents?.
Look back to Jane Fonda treasonous behavior during the Vietnam War, John Kerry behavior accusing U. S. troops of atrocities based on hearsay later proved false, Sen. Edward Kennedy attempting to derail nuke agreements between the U. S. and The USSR to improve his chances of winning the Presidency against R. Reagan, Jesse Jackson took well-publicized trips to Cuba and Nicaragua against wishes of the President and Depart. of State, and lastly Rep. Nancy Pelosi meeting with Syrian Head Assad against the wishes of the Administration and the Depart. of State. There are more examples of the above Google them and see for yourself..No penalty levied only threats of legal action.
A bad deal with Iran is worse than no deal. Keep the sanctions in place by both the U N and Congress.
