To the Editor,
The President gave authority to Secretary of State Hillary Clinton to classify documents. Sec . Clinton should know when a received item is sensitive to National Security and immediately classify that document. It doesn’t fly that the document received was not classified when she received it.
This, on its face, shows poor judgement and a total disregard for protecting sensitive documents. General Petraeus was prosecuted for mishandling “Confidential” documents that he authored (Confidential is the lowest level of classification). The recipient had Secret and/or Top Secret clearance.
Secretary Clinton mishandled all classifications from “Confidential, Secret, to Top Secret”, but she will be given a pass by The Department of Justice and the media. Years ago as a junior Air Force Officer I was given “Top Secret” clearance; I never revealed what I knew to anyone not authorized on a “need to know” basis. As far as I know this restriction is still in place after some 50 years. There can be no doubt that sensitive information was on this unprotected server. At the very least all information/emails on this private server should have been encrypted, there is no evidence that encryption occurred. This disregard for protection of sensitive material should be an issue that disqualifies Secretary Clinton from further Federal Office.
