Whatever the technology, people will try to find a way to use it to promote their products or business at as little cost to them as possible. Especially if it's possible to do so for free.
I rejected a comment about Halloween today. It was from a woman who said she loves this time of year and that she gets all her stuff from a certain holiday web site.
I was suspicious of this comment, so I googled the woman's name and the web site she mentioned.
Sure enough. She has been posting that comment wherever she could. And many web sites allowed the free ad to go onto their comments page.
I just got done rejecting that comment/ad when we received another one. This one, attached to a story about the Red Cedar Shooters (the local high school trap shooting team) informed us that the writer's nephew wants to get involved and is using a certain type of bb gun. I also rejected that comment.
