It's the most wonderful time of the year...

Now to do the shopping to make it wonderful! :)

I find myself asking, "What would you like?" and being asked, "What should I get you and dad?"

I used to find it easy to think of something I wanted.

This year, I'm content to say, "Look, as long as we are all happy and healthy, who could want anything else?"

I remember in years past we "celebrated" Christmas with an empty seat at the table.

First it was due to illness, so Christmas went to the hospital.

A few years later it was one of the kids and myself in the hospital at Christmas.

A few years ago it was empty seats because of deaths in the family, just as we were getting used to that, another death.

So trust me, if your family is all around the table, even if you don't like them, at least you are all there!

This year we had another scare with one of our aunts facing cancer, and is currently midway through chemo, and I know we are glad to have her this Christmas.

We still have an empty seat due to Alzheimers, but for the rest of the family, we are all well, happy, adding grandchildren...

Really, what more could I want?

Oh alright, so a few potholders and dishtowels aren't a bad idea if you feel like you need to get something...but all I really want, I already have.

Wishing you all, the very best this Christmas season, hold your loved ones close, your not-so-loved ones at arms length, but take the time to appreciate the people, not the presents this year!
