Dear Mr Paxton,
Please accept this email as a token of support and appreciation for the work you do to enforce the law on behalf of the residents of Vinton.
The death of Mr. Floyd has, shamefully, been exploited to fan into flame deep divisions and unrest already present in our society. Sadly, segments of our population now revolt and riot against any and all authorities - and most savagely against the Constitution of the United States of America (a document whose protected liberties are now scorned). How unjust that rage is directed against police officers who risk their lives to ensure our freedoms and to uphold our laws.
I'm sorry you all are suffering the consequences. You are in our prayers. Thank you for bravely continuing to don the uniform and protect our streets, lives, infrastructure, businesses, property, and way of life. Please continue to enforce the law. Vandals and rioters are a threat to our community, state, and country.
Again, thank you.
Margaret Preus

JH June 9, 2020, 1:50 am Well said, Margaret. I agree. Although there are always some bad members in any group, the police are to be honored and prayed over for their safety, which includes their emotional health in these times. This includes their spouses, kids and families. Thank you for all you do!

LV June 9, 2020, 2:19 pm Well written!! So true! Thank you to all officers.
SL June 9, 2020, 2:37 pm I also thank the police and sheriff departments for protecting us. I believe if a few punks and thieves want to do damage, their illegal actions should not be used to eliminate our constitutional right to peacefully protest. Losing that right could also be used against the far right or left. That is not who we are, and not who we want to become. It's such a slippery slope.
