Voting by mail should replace voting at the polls in it's entirety. The two institutions that can definitely be trusted is the County Board of Elections and the United States Postal Service. The money saved by eliminating the need for poll workers could be used to offer free postage on the envelopes
used to vote by mail. The person voting would also have more time to consider what they are voting for and would not be confined to the hours of the polling place. It would also prevent unwanted entry to schools and churches from anyone trying to harm someone.

In addition the voter would not be harassed by someone trying to place unsolicited campaign literature into their hand. The additional revenue would boost the Postal Service and perhaps keep it afloat until we as a country are able to vote online.
Voting by mail would solve the registered voter problem and guarantee safe passage of the ballots to the County Board of Elections. It might even prevent further spread of the Covid-19 Virus.

YT August 31, 2020, 1:26 pm I lived in Oregon for over 20 years. When they changed the law to all vote by mail I personally experienced friends who gave their ballots to others to fill out and they signed it. I saw a rural mailman purposely discard his mail from a Republican area since he was voting for a different party. I want to be able to cast my vote in person. This I trust.
js August 31, 2020, 6:17 pm Getting the ballots back to be counted is not the problem! It's where the ballots come from...Like all the ballots that go to the wrong addresses. Those voters who have moved and did not leave a forwarding address. The students who can't be at their dorms where they get their mail. The people that have died and have not been removed from the rolls. How about the states that automatically register you to vote when you do any business with the DMV. We live in a mobile society and I do not trust the government to keep the voter rolls accurately up to date. Especially my state that can't run the DMV or unemployment department or even fix the roads with the properly with the ultra-high gas tax that I pay.
JH August 31, 2020, 11:00 pm I'm not sure how anyone can think that mail in ballots would ever be as secure as having people vote in person at their polling place. It's obvious they can be filled in by others, stolen from mailboxes, etc etc.I'm also betting most County auditors would rather set up polling places than deal with all the increasing absentee and mail in ballots They should be used by people who are truly absent or disabled.
KR September 2, 2020, 3:23 pm Personally I liked voting by mail for the primary. It was quick and easy and for a November vote the weather wouldn't be a factor. It has not been proven that it is unsafe. And we had record turnout for the primary - a vote that many do not normally participate in, but did this year. Of course, now the newly appointed postmaster, who has connections with a company that is in competition with the USPS is working to slow the mail. Mail delivery is a service we've had for over 200 years. It is not a for profit business.
