Today I'm at the helm of Vinton Today, alone.

Dean is off with the Veterans on his 2nd Honor Flight, so here's hoping the pilots are awake and sober, and the folks in the control towers are as well.

It's always an honor when we are asked to cover events like the Honor Flights, and we are always glad to help our Veterans in any way we can.

Tomorrow Dean will be back, wiped out, but he will be at the computer sorting through the hundreds of pictures that he took and begin sending them out to the Iowa newspapers that may have had some of our countrys most valuable folks on this trip, our Veterans.

It's unbelieveable that it took our country so long to honor our World War II Veterans. Fortunately when they finally did, someone had a huge dream to make it possible to send our aging Veterans to see their memorial. The Honor Flights Program was the fulfillment of this dream. The flights go out a couple times each year. So if you know any veteran that hasn't been able to go to Washington D.C. to see their memorial, go to the website, and sign them up, it's at http://www.eihonorflight.org/

To our Veterans, a simple "Thank You." can never be enough for the sacrifices you made so that we can live free, but we say it from the bottom of our hearts..."Thank you."

To the folks that put the effort into organizing these trips, and the folks that go along just to help out, "Thank You".

If you would like to contribute to this wonderful organization, go to: http://www.eihonorflight.org/
