Okay...Okay, I've taken all the ribbing from everyone about no longer being a Hawkeye fan. I was only on loan temporarily from Penn State until Caitlin graduated. Now she has, and I'm back to hearing the roar of the Nittany Lions once again.
Can anyone try and imagine the amount of pressure on this gal to perform right away like she did at Iowa? IF the Indiana Fever weren't the worst team in the WNBA, they wouldn't have gotten the first round draft pick...CC.
Too many reporters and too many "know it all critics" seem to believe that she is a superhero who can take the team to a WNBA championship in her first year there. The thing is that she had teammates at Iowa for three to four years. Caitlin knew how they thought and how they played. They were in sync. Now she has moved up a level to the WNBA playing with teammates she's unfamiliar with. And by watching them play once, I wonder IF they want to win. They appeared rather passive and apathetic to me. I truly believe that Caitlin will soon provide the spark to get them running on all cylinders.Of course, the View had to weigh in on Caitlin. One of the "lovely" ladies stated that Brittney Griner never got the warm fuzzies and attention because she is Black, and Caitlin is White. Excuse me...Don't forget that Ms. Griner had drugs in her suitcase and became jailed in a Russian prison. President Biden made a deal that brought her back home and LEFT BEHIND a Marine who served his country with honor. [Thank you, Mr. President!!!]
As the pressure on Caitlin eases, she will become that outstanding player we all saw at Iowa. Let's all cheer her on; and for the time being, give the gal a break!!!
