Dear Editor,
My name is Chief Jeffrey Bunn with the Meskwaki Nation Police Department. In 1998 I became the Chief of Police in State Center, Marshall County, Iowa. I came to know then Chief Ted Paxton with the Albion Police Department. I was new to Marshall County when Ted came to my rescue and showed me the ropes of the county and how we worked as a team across the county. Ted and I became close friends. and that has lasted for more than 20 years. His leadership and dedication to his community and other agencies was amazing.
Ted moved on to the Eldora Police Department in Hardin County. Ted continued to show great leadership at Eldora and lifted up the Police Department standards and professionalism. Eldora had a massive straight line ice storm that literally sent baseball and softball sized ice through houses, buildings and vehicles as if they were being shot from an automatic machine gun.
The city was devastated. During all of that, Chief Paxton showed great leadership in getting resources to his community and still managed to respond to calls with a decimated patrol car fleet. His own home and the homes of his officers were heavily damaged, but he continued to put his community first.
This is the kind of leadership and dedication you will received if you vote for Tex Paxton to be the next Benton County Sheriff. You will get not just a dedicated leader, but a family man, husband and father of six boys. You will get a man of faith and you will get compassion.
I am asking you to vote for my good friend Ted Paxton for Sheriff for Sheriff of Benton County. You will not be disappointed.
Jeffrey Bunn
