Opinion : Letter to the Editor: Democrats new plan . . . failed

Dear Editor,

July 2, just 12 days ago, I cautioned that the Democrats only alternative to beating Trump was to assassinate him and that their threats and allusions to such an act should be taken seriously.  Imagine my “complete shock” when a friend called yesterday and said Trump had just been shot.  Sadly, I’m not surprised, not in the least.

We’ve spent 8 years hearing what an evil and vile man Trump is, how he’s the manifestation of Hitler himself and he simply cannot be allowed to take the office of President again.  Just days ago, Biden said that he needed to be "Put in the bullseye" .  Pelosi has stated over and over that Trump must not be allowed to become president again.  Many Democrats proposed that since the SCOTUS found that Presidents are immune from prosecution while executing legal acts during their Presidency that this was the perfect time for Biden to assassinate Trump along with members of the Supreme Court.

And here we are.

We have a Democrat Party that rails against the evils of Fascism.  They warn about the authoritarian rule of Trump.  They say that to save Democracy . . . their party, and theirs alone, is the only solution.  They obviously believe that to their core – because they are perfectly willing to kill their opposition.  All in the name of protecting “Democracy”.  I doubt Hitler himself could have explained their position any better.

Perhaps a reminder of what Fascism actually means . . .

Fascism:  “A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, a capitalist economy subject to stringent governmental controls, violent suppression of the opposition, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.”   (From the American Heritage Dictionary)

Sounds like a Democrat dream.  Given that, which party, which presidential candidate has Fascist leanings?  Well, which one is trying to eliminate their opponent by any means necessary???  The answer is as clear as it is stunning. 

We dodged a bullet last night . . . literally.  Watching him turn his head just slightly, now knowing that small movement changed the endpoint of the bullet’s flight just enough to nick Trump’s ear rather than entering his eye socket, may well have given us one more opportunity to paste our shattered and fractured country back together.

Sadly, I do not believe it will end there.  Shortly after the news of the assassination attempt the phrase “We missed” was trending on “X” – formerly twitter.  And while the Democrat leadership put on their “shocked” costumes and faces I’ve seen no one recanting their positions and rejecting their positions that Trump can not become President again, regardless the cost.  The Democrat party will see this as a failure of action, not an American tragedy.  Even the MSM spent the opening announcements describing how Trump had slipped and fell at his campaign event, taking nearly half an hour to announce the assassination attempt.  Even then they took pains to say that “both sides” needed to cool the rhetoric.  Really? I don’t remember Republicans, especially Trump, calling for a “target” on Biden’s back.  No where have I read about Republicans saying that Trump should use his “immunity” to assassinate opponents when he takes office next year.

This attempt to eliminate Trump with a bullet rather than a ballot lays solely at the feet of the Democrat Party.  It emphasizes their total “commitment” to winning this fall regardless of the tool required to do so.  Sadly, I believe the Democrat leadership views last night as a failure, not a tragedy.  Not seeing what could easily be our generation's version of Ft. Sumter.  I fully expect to witness all stops being removed in the Democrat quest to stop Trump from being elected this coming fall.  Last night was but a single, failed try to insure the Democrat’s victory in November.  There will be more.

I’d like to say our country will survive their attempts . . . but I can’t.
