Letter to the Editor: Free & Fair vs. Trump Defeat

Dear Editor,

Which is more important – Free and Fair or Trump’s defeat?

This popped into my head this morning. Which is more important on Tuesday – that the election is held in a free in fair fashion following all federal and state laws to the letter???

Or is Trump so objectionable that any and all means should be used for his defeat - federal and state laws be damned!

Just curious what all your thoughts are.

GM November 7, 2024, 7:05 pm This election as the last were free and fair but I’m sure if Mr Trump had lost he would have cried fraud. He was planting the seeds in the weeks leading up to the election saying there was corruption. The people have spoken so he is our president for the next four years we all have to deal with that. Character obviously doesn’t matter to some. I hope he calms down and leads the country as a president should.

DL November 4, 2024, 2:51 pm They are, both, equally important. In 2020,there were 63 courts, and the Supreme Court, that ruled there was no evidence of any wide-spread voting fraud. Several individuals were arrested for committing fraud, in some manner. More than half of those had voted for Trump. Free and fair elections shouldn't be on anyone's mind. The proper people will assure that it happens. If all votes are counted properly, all will be well. If Trump wins, our 248 years of self-rule, will be over.

PK November 4, 2024, 10:43 am BK...I admire every editorial you have written!! And they are factual and truthful. As everyone most likely remembers, I was a strong supporter of Ron DeSantis. I still am!!! I was going to write his name in on my ballot. But I gave serious consideration [after meeting him] as what he would want me to do. So I did that. People are placing a weak unfit woman into a place she clearly has NO background or intelligence to handle. How sad for us ALL!!!

ME November 4, 2024, 3:35 am Does it matter? Y'all have offered but Tr@mp's defeat as proof of nefarious goings on in 2020 - lawsuits tossed, lawyers disbarred, millions in settlements, an attempted insurrection and hundreds of convictions - and you still won't accept that he lost. I hope we flip a few states that went for him in 2020.
