Dear Editor,

I have some very large expectations of the second Trump administration and its accomplishment of the primary goals of the Republican Party - everyone in the administration needs to "Do the work!" . . . meaning that the elected Republican Congressmen, the elected Republican Senators, the cabinet members selected by Trump - they all need to be on the same page. Period! This was the single biggest failure of the Democrat party during Biden's administration - they were not only NOT on the same page, they didn't even have a "page". No firm direction, no firm goals, no firm policies - and they failed in a spectacular fashion and received their just deserts in this past election.

That said, and make no mistake, the Republicans can certainly follow the same path and focus on "politics", with every Congressman and Senator working on "getting theirs" rather than following through on the Party's Promises. And, if they do, they will suffer the same fate. The need to do the work of the party and focus on the next 12 years. I say 12 because I believe JD Vance has the focus, personality and drive to carry the presidency in 2028. But . . . but . . . not if the Republicans fail to do the work.

So, what is this "work" I'm referring to. Simply put, follow through on every one of the 20 promises they made to the American People contained in the beginning of their 2024 platform. Simply follow the link to read them for yourself. It's a solid list that is meant to "right the ship" and will certainly get us in a more stable direction. I've chosen 5 of my favorites to expand on a bit. Here they are:

1: SEAL THE BORDER, AND STOP THE MIGRANT INVASION

This seems to be happening in the run up to the inauguration. Conversations with the PM of Canada and the President of Mexico has resulted in their public commitment to sealing their borders and preventing further incursions. The Mexican president has also stated there will be no more caravans . . . we'll see. Of course, the threat of a 25% tariff "may" have influenced them. So why now? Simply, Trump's threats are believable while every leader in the world knew, and knows that Biden is simply an empty suit. Simple as that. That said, this is two sided as well and we already see Texas expanding the razor wire barriers after a federal Judge stopped the Biden administration from removing Texas's razor wire. The really good news is that the new "Border Czar" Tom Homan - a no-nonsense guy with a well deserved reputation of getting the job done, is very clear-eyed on what his job is and what he is willing to do to accomplish it - including arresting a sitting Governor in need be. I suspect we will see significant drops in incursions from both Mexico and Canada over the next 6 months and I expect that to maintain for the duration of Trumps administration.

2: CARRY OUT THE LARGEST DEPORTATION OPERATION IN AMERICAN HISTORY

This is the easiest thing in the whole list. Go to each state's prisons, pick up all the illegals who have committed the worst crimes, shackle them and fly them home. Easy, Peasy. I would not be resistant, in the least, of enacting a mandatory federal death penalty for any illegal convicted of committing a murder while they were here. Their lives will not be turned around by a stint in an American jail. Their home countries will more that likely release them. Let's simply protect our future citizens, shall we??

4: MAKE AMERICA THE DOMINANT ENERGY PRODUCER IN THE WORLD, BY FAR!

Trump's previous slogan was "Drill Here, Drill Now". The Democrats laughed at him until he actually did it, cutting the price of oil, reducing sales of Russian and Iranian oil retarding their ability to be "naughty". Look what happened when Biden took office and reduced our drilling. The cost of energy is the single largest contributor to inflation. You need fuels to plant crops, harvest crops, process crops, create goods, transport goods, provide electricity to homes, stores, factories and to simply sustain life throughout the year. Wind and Solar do not meet this need. As I type this 30% of our electrical power is coming from Coal, 35% is coming from Natural Gas, 12% is coming from Nuclear, 15% is coming from Wind and 6% is coming from Solar. Coal, Natural Gas, Diesel, and Gasoline are the key to our energy needs for transportation and our supply of electricity. While I certainly support the large expansion of our Nuclear power generation capabilities - wind and solar are nearly worthless. And by effectively reducing the amount of money going into Iran and Russia, we can reduce their ability to push our world into broader wars.

7: DEFEND OUR CONSTITUTION, OUR BILL OF RIGHTS, AND OUR FUNDAMENTAL FREEDOMS, INCLUDING FREEDOM OF SPEECH, FREEDOM OF RELIGION, AND THE RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS

The shocking push to enforce only "approved" speech and the suppression of it via words like "misinformation", "false information", "disinformation" to list a couple popular descriptors simply must be stopped - now - today!! Of course, the government would "decide" which is what . . . what could possibly go wrong. Large attacks have been made on our freedom of religion as well and the never-ending push to end or radically end our right to keep and bear arms. I noted Trump's promise to enact a national "concealed carry" statute - count me all in on that one. The single, sole thing that the President takes an oath to do in their Oath of Office is to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. That's it - period. Biden failed on a grand scale. And was shown the door. I trust Trump will do better.

10: STOP THE MIGRANT CRIME EPIDEMIC, DEMOLISH THE FOREIGN DRUG CARTELS, CRUSH GANG VIOLENCE, AND LOCK UP VIOLENT OFFENDERS

Finally, illegal immigrant crime, their introduction of particularly violent cartels, local gangs and general violence in our largest cities must end. And I have no problem using Tier 1 military TAC teams to address the worst of the gangs. I would hope large cities would look at what worked in NYC when Guliani Mayor. He implemented the "broken window" rule - pay attention to the small crimes - and the larger ones will diminish as a result. NYC was very successful in making the streets safe during his time in office - but they enforced the laws. Large cities need to return to that policy.

If Trump, the Republican Party and the elected Republicans are willing to go all-in on these 5 and the other 15 promises they have made, our nation will return to safety and prosperity and the Republican Party can look forward to a second and third "bite at the apple". If they don't . . . if they don't "do the work" . . . the American People will reject them in 2028. Time will tell.

Respectfully,

Bill Keller
