Normally we don't give a plug for services that cost you money. However, in light of last week's storm, I (Valerie) thought this would be worth mentioning. This information came in from one of our readers, so we will share it with you! I think that your readers might be interested in a feature that KCRG offers to alert their customers about severe weather warnings. It is called "Weather Call" and can be found on their website www.kcrg.com/weather. It is a subscription service (less than $10 a year) that is programmed to call up to 3 phone numbers if there is a severe weather warning for your exact address. It is more specific than a weather radio - if a warning is issued for anywhere in Benton County, your weather radio will sound the alarm. This, however, only alerts you to warnings for your specific address. We have it programmed for our 2 cell phones and our home landline phone. All 3 of them go off when there is a weather warning for our address, as they did the morning of July 11th. We have been very pleased with this service for the last two years that we have been subscribers. We even know when there is bad weather at home if we area away from the area thanks to the cell phone feature - and you don't need a "smart phone" for it to work. Check it out! You might find it interesting.
