Dear Editors, I have a pet peeve to air. John's is the only place in town to take empty pop cans for refunds, and John's hours are limited. So why is it that people with a dozen garbage bags of empty cans(or actual pickup truck loads of cans like on Monday), take their cans to John's? If they have that many cans to return, take them to Cedar Rapidsto The Can Shed.

After all, they will probably be able to pay for their gas to CR and back and still have a jingle in their pockets when they get home. Come on folks, be considerate of others. Don't hog the can recycle center. Big kids shareDear Editors,

D August 24, 2011, 6:42 am Just go up to Park and rec at Riverside PARK donate them in bin. NO WAITING , NO JINGLE IN YOUR POCKET , BUT ITS FAST AND EASY . JUST A IDEA!
LK August 24, 2011, 8:05 am A great way to get rid of cans is to donate them to Park and Rec. They put the funds to good use for kids in our community. You can drop them off anytime....first left up from the pool. Leave them in your garbage bag and drop them in the box, very convenient!
jy August 26, 2011, 11:49 am Yes big kids share and that means all big kids so I\'m sorry but that means you have to wait your turn also. As you have said they are the only one with that kind of machine in Vinton so if Vinton people are using it to return cans then that is what it is for! Maybe your concern should be taken up with Johns
AV August 29, 2011, 7:15 pm I don\'t know for sure what Shellsburg Quick Stop pays for cans, but I know that they take them. Palo Mini Mart also takes back cans--$12 for a Can Shed size bag.
C November 29, 2011, 11:53 pm Ever notice the number of people riding around on bicycles picking up cans, digging through trash cans? It makes the town look trashy(er).
