Way back in the 80's, my kids think this is the Elvis era, we all heard about how computers will make us a paperless society.

At the time, the fancy copiers, that are now common in every home, were just starting to be common in offices.

I am taking a break from the "paperless society" I now live in.

I have a 4-5" notebook that is full of music. I have it alphabetized in one section and in numerical order for the next section.

I LOVE playing the piano in church, and jump at the chance to get to play anywhere I can.

But I HATE filing the songs back in order so that I can find them again.

I was thinking that it would be easier to have folders in a file cabinet that I could just drop these songs in, in the appropriate lettered folder.

I suppose there is probably a piano out there that can hold all these papers in a computer program, but so far I haven't seen one.

The other area that I can't wait to go paperless is bookkeeping.

I have said so many times that I need a secretary.

Right now I have to keep paperwork for my dad, our business, taxes, regular household paperwork, and then add in miscellaneous forms that need filled out, school papers, etc. and I am constantly remembering my teachers saying, "In 20 years, we will have a paperless society." I can't wait until we hit that 20 year mark!

"Everything will be done by computer." At that time we BARELY had computers in the school, but this was the prediction.

We are pretty close to doing everything on a computer, but so far I think it's just produced more paper for our "paperless society."

What the computers can't do is manage my stacks of paper.

So, while I need to go back and work on my alphabetizing, I should probably brush up on my metric system...I was also told that we'd also be using only METRIC in...20 years...

KP November 1, 2011, 12:07 pm I totally love the folders in a file cabinet idea, but you have to find someone with the time to \"just drop the songs in the appropriate\" folders. This story sure hits home for me.
