Okay, so I'm new to the world of Facebook.
I remember in some of the first meetings about starting up the Website the discussion came up about Facebook and how it is a great social place.
So I thought it's time to figure it out, I went in kicking and screaming.
First you find your friends, then you send them a request to be your friend, once that happens you now have a list of friends.
Now, any time one of your friends post something, it appears on your screen.
There's also the option to send them a private message, for those of us over 40, it's an old fashioned e-mail ;)
When I first got on to Facebook, I don't know how many years ago, I signed up as someone else, ya know the whole privacy issue.
Facebook was just starting up, the Internet was brand new, and I had a lot of small children at home that I didn't want any warped monster to find, so all I had on my page was a fake name and my e-mail address....
Fast forward to today...I am in a business that is forcing me to rethink what I thought about things like Facebook.
Just in this past few weeks, I run across a couple classmates from my elementary years, and was pleasantly surprised.
Then I got the chance to sit around the computer like they used to do over coffee and say, "What's the name of that one store, that used to be one block off of 4th St. on the road that goes to the hospital?" and the conversation just went down so many memory lanes for folks.
So at the ripe old age of 40ish....I'm part of a different kind of sandwich generation.
One that can remember what privacy used to be and someone who is just discovering the online world, and how fun it is, and realizing what fascinates the kids about it...as well as someone who thinks that we need more privacy and then here I am again, posting this for the whole world to read....
