Opinion : Letter to the Editor - Support Ben Lange for U.S. Congress

This year Iowans in the 1st Congressional District have the chance to send Bruce Braley home. Bruce Braley has not listened to his constituents and has continued to vote for bills that only serve to send our country deeper into debt. Some of the bills Braley has supported include Obamacare, cap and trade, and bailouts for large corporations using taxpayer money.

In 2010, a conservative Iowan stepped up to take on Bruce Braley. Ben Lange, a Republican from BuchananCounty, ran against Bruce Braley and against all odds came within less than 2% of the vote. Ben Lange has proven that he can take on Bruce Braley and give him a fight.

Ben Lange is a Conservative who believes we need to protect the rights of parents. As the father of 3 young girls, Ben Lange recognizes the importance of protecting the rights of parents to choose how to raise their children and the right of parents to choose which school their children attend. Lange is pro-life. Lange supports securing our borders but on the same token he also supports reforming our immigration system to be more effective so that lawful immigrants can efficiently enter and exit our country. Lange is for the repeal of the unconstitutional healthcare mandate passed by Democrats and signed into law by President Obama.

When it gets down to the truth of it, both of the Republican candidates for the 1st District have the same core values and beliefs and it’s up to us, the voters, to choose which candidate will best serve us as a member of congress, and which candidate can beat Bruce Braley. As a lawyer, Ben Lange has an understanding of the law that will aid him in crafting better laws that are clear and constitutional as well as the ability to recognize laws that are unconstitutional and/or poorly written. We have so many of our elected officials that don’t understand the way the legal system works and who don’t understand how to create laws that are constitutional. It’s time to elect someone who has the legal knowledge needed to create laws that stand up to constitutional guidelines.

On another note, Ben Lange has received the support of many Iowalawmakers including Senator Brad Zaun, Senator Tim Kapucian, Representative Dawn Pettengill, Representative Renee Schulte, and several other representatives.

If you’re like me, you don’t really care about the endorsements but I felt it important to note how many of our state lawmakers are supporting Ben Lange. This greatly helps his campaign and would certainly help him in defeating Bruce Braley in the fall.
