Tonight, as usual, I'm up so I'm working, to pass the time, it's quiet and won't wake the kids. I just finished loading some of the news for tomorrow.
I had to chuckle.
I had just finished loading everything when 2 more e-mails came in from a couple guys in town. I had problems getting their stories on so replied to both. One was a pastor, and one was working in his garage.
It's funny to think of Vinton as the city that never sleeps.
I just assume that I don't sleep now because well, it's probably an age thing, or I figure it's from all those years of being a mother. You get used to going without sleep.
I find it is the only time of day that it is completely quiet and I can let my mind wander and dream about a kitchen make over, yes for my new house. I'll only say that in a prefab house, that nice woodwork is merely particle board with contact paper on it, and it doesn't last.
Usually I'm up to see the World News Polka, and flip between that and the news on channel 2, since that's all that's on that I like at this hour. At 4 a.m. the "good" shows start, the shows from the 50's and 60's.
I had never heard of "Family Affair", a cute little show about an uncle, his butler and his 2 nieces and nephew who live with him following the loss of their parents.
I also like Mr. Ed, and the problems he's always causing.
Then there's The Many Loves of Dobie Gilles, which I only watched because I recognized Bob Denver from Gilliagan's Island many years ago.
And Gomer Pyle, aw, I love that guy..."Well, gollllly..."
I also met Patty Duke and the escapades she got into, then there's My Three Sons...all this gold!
Ah, to have these shows or shows like them, good clean, entertaining, and not a single f-bomb or sex reference in them!
The humor and story lines in these shows are much more intelligent then anything on today.
I was actually surprised to see on an afternoon show called The Big Valley, 70's era I believe, that showed a man asking God to save him from the bad guys in the front yard, and then in the end he thanked God for saving him and his family.
Yep, we've really evolved.
Into what I'm not sure, but we are definitely not watching that kind of TV now.
As much as The View irritates me, although not as much as Dean, :) I sometimes watch it, it's my "yell at the TV time". But sometimes I just have to clean my mind out with Andy Griffith, Barny Fife, Aunt Bee and Opie.
Here's a wish for the Jersey Shore, The Glass House, and most other shows that are on today to take a trip back in time and give us something decent worth watching, well one can dream...at least that's what I'm going to go and try to do now.

We should plan a get together place for all of us who have these late night waking hours?? Although, peace and quiet is a treasure, even if it is 3 a.m.
