Opinion : Letter to the Editor - Local officers thanked

Behind the scenes helpfulness.

The Vinton police department and the Benton County Sheriff's department do many helpful deeds that largely go unnoticed.

One of those helpful good deeds is escorting funeral processions. We recently had funerals that involved processing from the church to cemeteries in and out of town.

In each case the city and county police were there to help us safely maneuver busy intersections and dangerous turns. Families are impressed, not only with the willingness of the officers to help but with the respect it shows the family of the deceased.

Thank you to both departments for your friendly willingness to help. It is unnoticed by many but appreciated by all.
