The Vinton Community Swimming pool is now in its final week so be sure to stop by to take one last dip before the summer comes to an end. We will be on our regular pool hour schedule all the way through Saturday, August 16th. On Sunday, August 17th, the pool will be hosting its annual Doggie Dip from 1 PM - 4 PM to conclude the pool season. The cost is only $3 per dog and owners are admitted for free! However, owners must complete a registration form available at the pool front desk and show proof of their dog's vaccinations. Please call the Vinton Parks & Recreation Department at 472-4164 if you have any questions.

JE August 13, 2014, 2:39 pm I\'m a former life guard at the two previous Vinton pools. I find it just a little amazing that Vinton keeps an expensive facility like the present pool open for only a little over two months a year, when there is so much Summer left. We used to keep the earlier facilities open until at least Labor Day, with a limited-hour schedule. We had the swimmers, even that late in the season, and we felt we were good stewards of our facilities. Surely, finding qualified lifeguards can\'t be that difficult, if that\'s the reason.
