Sports : Cross Country runners compete in first meet tonight

VS Cross County team members met for their annual supper on eve of first meet at Jorgensens' home.

Coach John Frazier joined the team for this photo on the Jorgensen's deck.

Tonight the Vinton-Shellsburg cross-country teams travel to Williamsburg for their first meet.

"It's not a large meet, but it will be a competive one," said Coach John Frazier.

The team has a relatively new tradition -- a supper at the Nancy and Pat Jorgensen home the night before the first meet.

They observed that custom Tuesday evening, sharing spaghetti, bread sticks, garlic bread and dessert bars.
