Several Vinton-Shellsburg girls’ golf team members were successful achievers in the classroom. Each year the Iowa Girls’ High School Athletic Union presents an award for excellence in academic achievement. These 12 girls were members of the Vinton-Shellsburg 2015 girls’ golf team and achieved a team G.P.A. of 3.567.

This award is presented to teams who achieve a 3.2 – 3.6 G.P.A. in classroom work while actively participating in interscholastic athletics. These current students and recent graduates of Vinton-Shellsburg High School exemplify the excellence achieved by the young people of today and the future of tomorrow. Recipients include:

Four team members were also recognized as 2015 Academic All-conference. They are Jessie Noren, Olivia Ketchen, Kaiti Kilpatrick and Lauren Tandy. To earn this honor, each golfer must be a junior or senior and have a 3.5 G.P.A. or better.

Our final honoree, Lauren Tandy, was named First Team All District by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. She was a Class 4A State Qualifier and finished 11th overall. Lauren was named 2nd Team All State by the by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Recently she officially signed to play golf at Mount Mercy University.
