Junior Tyler Bartz led the Vikings with 20 points as the Vikings defeated Center Point-Urbana, 69-56, in Wamac basketball action on Tuesday.

The Stormin' Pointers had defeated the Vikings by 13 a few weeks ago in Center Point, and came to town in first place in the Wamac West, with just one loss in conference play.

CPU looked to be continuing its winning trend early, building a 16-11 first quarter lead. But the Vikings evened the score in the second and outscored CPU in each of the final three quarters.

Senior players and cheerleaders and their parents were introduced to the audience before the game. Two Viking seniors, Tyler Rippel and Austin Bohnsack, were in double figures; Rippel scored 12, and Bohnsack, 14. Junior Cole Smith also added 12 points. Senior Sean Noeller led the Vikes with six rebounds and five assists.

The Vikings end their regular season with a road game at Solon on Friday and a make-up game at Marion on Monday.

Post-season begins Feb. 22

The Vikings begin the post-season Monday, Feb. 22, at Mount Vernon, in Class 3A District 4 action. The winner of that game will play the winner of the CPU-Benton Game. The District winner will advance to the Sub-State game at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids on Feb. 29.
