Sports : Hyland places 7th at State Wrestling Meet

Nick Hyland finished 7th at State with this win in Des Moines.

Viking senior Nick Hyland ended his successful wrestling career with a win, finishing in seventh place in the Class 2A 145 bracket at the State Wrestling Meet.

The other Viking in the meet, freshman Luke Radeke, lost his first round match, then won his second match but was eliminated after his second los. See the 2A 106 bracket HERE.

Two other area wrestles competed at State. CPU Senior Brock Rathbun won his third straight state title, winning the Class 2A 126 championship. He has a career record of 185-3 and has not lost a match since the championship match at the State meet as a freshman. He will wrestle at the University of Iowa next year.

Blade Durbala represented Benton Community, wrestling in the Class 2A 195 bracket.
