Sports : Vikings win two at home; improve to 8-4

Scottie Wirth earned the 'W' for the Vikings in their 6-1 win during Wednesday's sweep of Beckman.

Scottie Wirth pitched a complete game, holding the Dyersville Beckman to 1 run as the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings won the first of two baseball games Wednesday in Vinton.

The Vikings won the second game, 5-4. In addition to Wednesday's sweep, the Vikes won a pair of big victories at Center Point-Urbana on Monday.
