A 7-3 win over Akron-Westfield Friday night made the Lansing Kee High softball team the Class 1 champions.

The team is coached by Vinton-Shellsburg graduate Liz Hill, who starred on the diamond for the Vikettes before setting home run records at Mount Mercy.

Hill also led the team, which includes three of her cousins, to 2nd place at State in 2014.

"I am so proud of my sister, says Sarah Hill, Liz's younger sibling who also was a teammate of LIz's at VS and Mount Mercy. "I wish everyone could see the passion, dedication, and energy she has for this team and the sport. So congrats to the best teammate and role model I ever had! I love you so much and can't wait to celebrate this state title."
