Bif Walker-Davis with family in the front row (Brad Walker, Mel Davis and Brian Knight) In the back row are Bif's VS softball coaches Shirale Hanson and Emily Grimm and Cedar Rapids Blue Devil Coach's Doug King and Brent Harvey Elisabeth "Bif" Davis-Walker knew when she first saw the softball facilities and Biology Department of Wartburg College, she'd found the place she wanted to pursue her education and play college softball. Bif, the daughter of Mel Davis and Brad Walker, joined her family and coaches this week as she formally announced her plans to accept Wartburg's offer. She received an academic scholarship. (Division III colleges do not offer sports scholarships, explains Biff's mom.) "As soon as I walked on campus, I knew it was the place for me," said Bif, who is impressed with the athletic facilities as well as the Wartburg Biology Department. Bif has lettered in softball since 8th grade, and earned WaMaC Conference honors after her sophomore and junior seasons. She has also earned WaMaC Honorable Mention recognition in soccer, and was involved in track and cross country for three years. Wartburg coach Jamie Mueller has said likes Bif's athletic ability and her ability to hit the ball. Bif's official stat sheet indicates her 3.8 GPA ranks 11th among the VSHS Class of 2018. Her school activities include Student Senate and National Honor Society; her volunteer efforts include youth programs and Special Olympics. She plans to major in health science and play outfield for the Knights.
