Sophomore Will Dudley goes up for a shot and is fouled in Friday's game vs. South Tama. CJ Rickels scores two against South Tama in the sophore game. Along with the Vinton-Shellsburg High School freshmen, sophomore and varsity teams, Friday's basketball games at VSHS included a scrimmage of four teams from the Vinton Parks and Recreation Department youth basketball program. These future high school players are still in elementary or middle school, but played with an intensity that high school coaches appreciate. The Vikings won two of the three contests. The freshman won their game, and the sophomores hung on four a four-point win, but the varsity lost by two, 55-53. Junior Nolan Haisman led varsity scorers with 17. The Vikings, plagued by injuries this season, are 1-13. They play tonight at Clear Creek-Amana. See more stats HERE. See more photos HERE. Nolan Haisman led VS with 17 points.
