Sports : 6th grade team advances to State AAU Volleyball tourney with first place finish at Marshalltown

The Vinton area 6th grade AAU volleyball team coached by Taralyn Roberts and Susan Rollinger has earned a trip to the State AAU tournament in Indianola on March 17. The girls earned the trip after finishing first in the qualifying tournament in Marshalltown over the weekend. "They played a total of six pool play games and one championship game," says Coach Roberts. "They went 5-6 in pool play and 2-2 for championship play." Team members include Rachel Rollinger, Bree Swenson, Peytin Clemensen, Paige Kelley, Grayce McClintock, Ashlyn Murray, Lizzie Brummer and Abby Kearns.
