Earlier this month the Vinton Aquatic Club held their annual banquet to recognize the successes of their swimmers over the past yer. Certificates and trophies were awarded in areas such as points earned in each age group, as well as for those swimmers showing the most improvement throughout the year.

This banquet also marks the beginning of another year of the swim team. They are currently accepting registrations for new swimmers.  Inquiries can be directed to Coach Dave Happel at dhappelvac@mediacombb.net or by calling his office at 319-472-4300.

Vinton Aquatic Cub is a local competitive swim team with USA swimming.  They have competitors as young as 5 years of age and members as young as 2 or 3 years old. No previous swimming experience is required to join. This is a year-round club with both a summer and a winter session.

You can also support the team through direct donations or by participating in one of their fundraisers throughout the year. The first of these takes place on October 7th at Pizza Ranch. The swimmers will be serving customers and bussing tables for tips, in addition to Pizza Ranch donating 7% of their proceeds from the evening. Another fundraiser to watch for are the Red Wheel frozen food sales in the spring. A raffle for a Vinton Public Pool pass will be raffled around Christmas time, and the annual swim-a-thon is held in February.
