The winning streak moved to four Monday night as Coach Rich Haisman's Vinton-Shellsburg Vikettes rolled past Independence, 50-34 in a WaMaC West showdown at the Garrison Fieldhouse.
After a tight first eight minutes, the Vikettes (7-4 overall and 4-0 in the West) rolled to a 32-18 lead at intermission and 43-24 going into the final eight minutes.
Kayla Griffith paced the Vikettes with 14, with Lucy Howes-Vonstein adding 13 and Taryn Sutton 10 to give V-S three in double figures. Alyssa Griffith added nine, Brylee Bruce three and Davia Herger one.
The Vikettes have a tough road trip ahead as they travel to Clear Creek-Amana Tuesday, Center Point-Urbana Friday then South Tama next Tuesday before returned to the Fieldhouse January 24 to host Central DeWitt.
