It was another heartbreaker for Coach Joe Johnson's Vinton-Shellsburg boys' basketball team Tuesday, as for the second night in a row the Vikings dropped an overtime toughie, falling this time to Clear Creek-Amana, 70-62 in a game that was truly a tale of two halves.

V-S led 18-7 after one quarter and 33-16 at the half, but Clippers stormed back, cutting the margin to three after three at 41-38 before the contest went into OT tied at 55. From then on it was all CCA.

The difference came down to free throws; the Vikings made seven of 10 attempts for the night while the Clippers hit 17 of 21.

CJ Rickels led the Vikes with 21 points, with Sam Griffith added 17 and Jose Wilson 12. Derron Hughes and David Lapan-Islas added four each and Tanner Rodman two.

The Vikes will be back in the Fieldhouse Friday night to take on Center Point-Urbana.
