Coach Brian Sheston's Vinton-Shellsburg wrestlers had another strong showing Thursday night, closing out their abbreviated home schedule with a triple dual meet at the Garrison Fieldhouse.
The Vikings defeated Iowa City Regina 39-15, but fell to Iowa Valley 39-33 and Midland, 42-36.
Sophomore 132-pounder Brady Ortner had another solid night, collecting three falls. Freshman 152-pounder Curtis Erickson had two pins and a forfeit, while 138-pounder Bryce Radeke picked up a pair of decisions and a forfeit.
126-pounder Damon Swenson had a fall and two forfeits, as did 195-pounder Caleb Rouse, while senior 220-pounder Chris King had a pin and a forfeit. 145-pounder Jimmy Mull had the Vikes other pin. Senior Lillie Lamont also had two forfeits.
The Vikings get back at it Saturday when they travel to Manchester for Class 2A's premier conference tournament, the 2020 WaMaC meet at West Delaware High School. Preliminary matches begin at 10:15 a.m.
