Sports : Vikettes lose in a close match 3-2 to Independence

Independence defeats Vikettes 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10)

VINTON - The Vinton-Shellsburg Vikette varsity volleyball team (12-11, 1-2 WaMaC West) took on the Independence Mustangs (12-5, 3-1 WaMaC West) on Sept. 23 inside a raucous Garrison Fieldhouse and were defeated 3-2 (25-21, 20-25, 22-25, 25-21, 15-10).

Junior Brylee Bruce led the Vikettes in ace serves with 0.6 and assists with 29, senior Brynn Patterson led the Vikettes in kills with 2.6 for a .130 hitting percentage and digs with 19 and junior Alyssa Griffith led the Vikettes in blocks with four.
