It was another night of record performances Tuesday at Cedar Rapids Washington. The Stormin' Vikings swim team turned in another strong performance as they moved closer to the culmination of their season. Swimming against the non-district teams of the larger MVC schools, the squad left their top relays and most of their top swimmers in exhibition status or in events other than their primary strokes. The team still managed a strong third-place finish among the 11 participants. For the fourth time this season, Ian Allsup was involved in breaking another school record.

In the 5th event of the evening, Allsup broke the 18-year-old 100 Butterfly record previously set in 2005 by Matt Lehman. Allsup's time of 55.49 bettered the old mark by 3/10 of a second. Additionally, both the 200 Free Relay of Allsup, James DeSmet, Brayden Beck and Ian Vrba, and the 400 Free Relay of Wes and Broden Farrell, Vrba and Allsup, earned their way onto the record board with the third-fasted times in school history for those events.

On this night the team turned in an amazing 47 new personal best times. Those who entered as exhibition were not eligible to score points or earn medals, but despite this, the team had numerous podium placements on the evening. The Medley Relay of Aleric Weber, Ryan Williams, Hunter Kempton and Brayden Beck finished third. Broden Farrell was 2nd in the IM, Weber 2nd in the 500 Free, James DeSmet 2nd in the 50 Free and Beck was 2nd in the 100 Breast and 3rd in the 100 Free.

The team is scheduled for its Conference Meet Saturday at Coe as we keep a close watch on the weather. On February 4th Districts will be held in Dubuque with the state meet the 10th and 11th in Iowa City.
