~The tournament is open to the public, and admission is free~

Athletes and Unified partners from across the state will assemble in West Des Moines on September 29 and 30 to compete in the Special Olympics Iowa Fall Classic.

The Fall Classic will feature over 600 athletes competing in volleyball, pickleball, flag football, equestrian, and Unified golf.

"We are really looking forward to introducing the first-ever Fall Classic to our athletes, said John Kliegl, Special Olympics Iowa President and CEO. "We know this event is highly anticipated and that athletes have worked hard for this state competition."

The competition will officially begin on Friday, September 29 at 5:00 p.m. with the Opening Festival at the MidAmerican Energy Company Recplex. Special Olympics Iowa athletes will be featured during the Opening Festival and will include a parade of athletes, the lighting of the cauldron, dueling pianos, and more.

On September 29, the flag football and pickleball competitions will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex, and the Unified golf competition will begin a 9:00 a.m. at Willow Creek Golf Course. On Saturday, September 30, there will be volleyball and pickleball competitions at the MidAmerican Energy Company RecPlex and an equestrian competition at Menagerie Stables LLC in Mitchellville, both beginning at 9:00 a.m.
