The Vinton-Shellsburg boys basketball team, at 16-4, has clinched the WaMaC West division title, and plays its final game of the regular season at home tonight. The Vikings host DeWitt Central.
The District tournament action begins Monday, when the Vikings host Independence at 7 p.m.
The Vikings, who are in the District 7 bracket of class 3A, are two wins away from competing at the McLeod Center, where the University of Northern Iowa basketball teams play.
District 7 includes V-S, Independence, Union and Center Point-Urbana. District 8 includes Western Dubuque, West Delaware, Maquoketa and Dubuque Wahlert.
The winners of Monday's games between V-S and Independence and CPU and Union will play Thursday, Feb. 23, at Cedar Falls High School.
The District 7 and 8 champs will play Feb. 27, at the McLeod Center in Cedar Falls, for the right to advance to the State Tournament.
