Sports : Alumni Football game set for June 16

The Alumni Football game between the Vinton-Shellsburg Vikings and the Center Point-Urbana Stormin Pointers will be played Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the Vinton High School Football Field.

All Viking alumni are encouraged to sign up. As of today, we already have 18 players registered so sign up soon. Here is the link for players to register:

Last year was the first year alumni football came to Iowa and we are proud to say that we were one of just 10 or 12 teams who got together to play in the inaugural year. Our football team was proud to give back $800 that we raised in pre-game ticket sales to the cheerleading and football teams. I spoke with Jason Chance, our area coordinator with Alumni Football USA and he told me there is a lot of interest this year. So far, it looks as though there may be football games played across the state the entire month of June.
