Sports : Work nearly complete on Lions field; teams asked to use Kiwanis diamonds for now

Spring fever is in the air and to the delight of many, that means that softball season is right around the corner! The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department made major renovations to Lions Field last fall, including the installation of a new infield and drain tiles, a restructured batters box and pitching area, and other diamond amenities.

VPRD is picking up where they left off last fall by completing a number of other amenity renovations this spring before softball season gets underway. In order to complete these projects, VPRD is temporarily closing off Lions Field and its parking lot area to the public.

If your softball team is unable to contain its excitement to get out and start practicing for the upcoming season, VPRD asks that you please use the Kiwanis Park ball fields as a temporary practice location until our projects are complete.
